Invitation to Coperion Food Forum 27 January 2009

Food Test Lab - optimizing food processing technologies

With its forthcoming Coperion Food Forum on 27th January 2009, Coperion GmbH, Stuttgart/Germany, will be officially inaugurating its new Food Test Lab.  Coperion's Competence Center Compounding & Extrusion, hitherto known under its former name of Werner & Pfleiderer, cordially invites to this forum all interested processors from the food industry.  Installed in the Food Test Lab is a ZSK 43 MEGAvolume PLUS twin-screw extruder with peripherals, both in food-grade specification. The designations "volume" and "PLUS" stand for "large screw-flight volume" and "high-performance drive" respectively. Given the same or even improved quality of product and the same screw diameter, these two features together permit an output rate ten times that of its predecessor, the CONTINUA. The benefit to the user is a considerable reduction in specific capital investment and running costs.  Demonstration runs will be shown at the Coperion Food Forum to demonstrate the performance capabilities of this versatile food extruder, its scope of application ranging from the production of directly expanded breakfast cereals and modified flours and starches to the production of dry animal feed and pet food.

The lectures to be given at the Coperion Food Forum will provide visitors with an overview of the latest developments in food processing technology:

  • The Competence Center Compounding & Extrusion, formerly Werner & Pfleiderer, will give a presentation of the possible applications of the ZSK MEGAvolume PLUS in the food processing industry.
  • The Competence Center Materials Handling, formerly Waeschle, will be presenting technical solutions for the pneumatic conveying of foodstuffs as well as new developments in machine components and hygienic design.
  • The Competence Center Service will be demonstrating its comprehensive possibilities with service products fulfilling individual customer requirements.
  • Coperion's partner company Dinnissen BV, Netherlands, will be presenting new developments in complete customized production lines and innovative solutions for mixing and vacuum-coating.

There will be enough time in the course of the day for visitors to meet one another and discuss their own particular problems and experiences.
